Godshands
God,
Not he of celestial beauty,
But rather
The god of humanity
Is one of greed.
Upon his head sits a crown,
One of diamonds and flesh.
At his right hand,
Money — power
At his left,
Man.
Perched, flickering
Centralized upon the highest peak
Of his crown
Is a flame.
A flame
That will be used
To immolate all.
All who oppose,
All who resist,
All who he,
The almighty god
Deems unworthy —
Problematic.
Voices of change,
Voices of defiance,
Those are the ones
Who the Devine swallows
In his unrelating fires.
And with each burst,
His hands meet in prayer.
Reuniting the powers
And man.
Like the god
Of salvation,
He created.
Teachers of his word,
And keepers of his teachings.
He armed his soldiers
And cast them down.
They pillaged,
Waged wars,
And prayed for divinity,
So that he might answer
Their prayer for cleansing.
He heard their pleas
And sent forth provisions:
Cloaks of white,
Badges of gold,
Pockets of green,
And the power of his own right hand.
They swore allegiance
Not just to him,
But to their own
Authority and power,
The work god so requested.
They cast shrines
Of thanks,
Burning them brightly into the sky
From properties
Of those who feared them.
They murdered, mercilessly,
Those who resisted them.
They ruled
With the iron fist of god,
Oppressing those,
Who opposed them.
Heritage, color,
Beliefs in those other than their god,
Their law swore
To eradicate them.
Their beliefs,
Like a cancerous seed,
Burrowed deep
Into the womb
Of humility.
It’s poison
Become normal,
Conventional,
Law.
We’ve been taught
That this is the word,
This is the truth,
These are our rights.
But what we’re blind to
Is where these words derived.
The missing sections, segments
And exceptions.
These teachings
And practices
Have always been rooted
In hate,
Corruption,
And apathy.
For these teachings
Are those of man,
Those who are seated
At the left hand of god.
These teachings
Are those of the devil.
